The viewer’s physical presence acts together with the installation in a way that causes the viewer’s shadow to change. As light shifts on the painted surface, it seems as if one’s own cast shadow becomes translucent, shifts “behind” the surface, disappears altogether until re-emerging a while later. The work is fully actuated only in the presence of the viewer.
