The viewer’s physical presence acts together with the installation in a way that causes the viewer’s own shadow to change: as light shifts on the painted surface, it seems as if one’s own cast shadow becomes translucent, shifts “behind” the surface, disappears altogether until re-emerging a while later. The work is fully actuated only in the presence of the viewer.
