In Faraway, So Close! Michal Czinege reflects on the nature of perception and reality and their boundaries in relation to each other. The installation builds on the interrelationship between physical colour, light, shadow, and the act of perception.

The title, Faraway, So Close!, is borrowed from a Wim Wenders’ film, in which an invisible angel becomes a physical human being and is drawn into the complexities of human existence.

In Czinege’s installation something severs the connection to the viewer’s own shadow and blurs boundaries between the physical and the virtual. The invisible becomes a visible, albeit transient phenomenon, only when the viewer and their shadow become part of the work.
